This calculator is based on X's open source algorithm (github.com/xai-org/x-algorithm). While the code structure is public, the exact numerical weights are learned by the Grok transformer model and not explicitly published. The weights used here are approximations based on community research and observed behavior.

Verified accounts receive a +100 base score compared to the maximum +55 for unverified accounts. This is because X uses verification as a trust signal to filter out bots and spam. The verification boost helps ensure quality content rises to the top.

Velocity refers to how quickly your post gains engagement in the critical first 30 minutes. X tests your post with a small sample first (5-10% of followers). If engagement is strong in minutes 0-5, it expands to 20-30% of followers. Posts that maintain momentum can reach the 'For You' feed at scale.

When authors reply to comments on their own posts, it signals genuine engagement and creates conversation. X heavily rewards this because it indicates quality content that sparks discussion, which keeps users on the platform longer.

Likes are the lowest-effort form of engagement. A reply (+13.5) requires much more thought and effort, while a like can be given with a single tap. X weights engagement types by the effort required, valuing meaningful interactions over passive consumption.

Reports are catastrophic for your post's reach. Each report carries a -369 penalty, which X calls 'instant death.' Even a single report can tank your post's score, effectively killing its ability to spread. This is why controversial content often fails despite high engagement.

Video watch time has surprisingly little impact on ranking. A 50% video completion only adds +0.005 to your score. X prioritizes engagement signals like replies, reposts, and profile clicks over passive video consumption.

X can place restrictions on accounts that violate policies. A minor restriction reduces your score multiplier to 0.5 (50% penalty), while a major restriction reduces it to 0.1 (90% penalty). This dramatically limits your content's reach.
