Choose an image format
PNG is useful for interface captures and sharp text. JPEG and WebP can reduce image size for some pages. Compression can change fine details, so use the same format and quality when comparing visual results.
Understand PDF rendering
PDF output is a document representation and may be affected by print styles and pagination. A PDF is not always identical to a full-page PNG. Inspect the result with a PDF viewer and compare the site’s print presentation when investigating layout changes.
Handle the returned content
Use the response’s content type and your requested output format when choosing a filename or decoder. Check the HTTP status before writing the response to disk. For multi-output requests, retrieve the specific output rather than assuming the entire JSON response is an image.
